Our Founding Partners

Events like the Manitoba Open can’t happen without the dedicated commitment of businesses in our community and of course the hundreds of volunteers. These partners are the reason we are able to put on a first class PGA TOUR Canada event that gives back to local charities. This year we are excited to announce a new charitable partner, True North Youth Foundation.

These generous organizations believe in our vision of having a PGA TOUR family event in Winnipeg and are our Founding Partners. To them and all of our partners, we are truly grateful. Learn more on how you can partner with the Manitoba Open!

Volunteer and Make a Difference

Close to 300 volunteers made the event possible in 2022. Your involvement as a volunteer will directly support our efforts in contributing and raising funds for important charitable initiatives in our community. Volunteer positions in scoring, admissions, marshaling and construction are just some of the ways you can get inside the ropes.

You can also get more directly involved in tournament play by becoming a PGA TOUR Canada caddie for a weekend. Caddie positions are open to persons age 15 years and older and you must be able to carry a set of golf clubs. It’s the closest you’ll get to all the action.

Thank You For Making A Difference In Our Community!

Manitoba Open Canada Life Pro-Am

Partners of the Manitoba Open, Manitoba’s only PGA TOUR Canada event, have the exclusive opportunity to play with one of the PGA TOUR’s top prospects in one of our pro-am events – a fun filled, friendly, round of golf on a tournament-ready course. We are excited to announce that True North Youth Foundation will once again be the charitable partner in 2024.

TRUE NORTH YOUTH FOUNDATION

The True North Youth Foundation (TNYF) consists of three core programs, Camp Manitou, Project Eleven, and Winnipeg Jets Hockey Academy.

These programs empower underserved youth in our community to achieve their potential through consistent health, wellness, and activity programing that integrates into their school curriculum from kindergarten to grade twelve. The TNYF works closely with its team of motivated board members, True North employees, and our professional hockey teams and venues (Bell MTS Iceplex and Camp Manitou) to provide youth a positive, engaging and nurturing environment to grow.

A Manitoba Tradition Since 1919

A Manitoba Tradition Since 1919

Our History

The CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open returned to its roots in 2020. Starting in 1919, the Manitoba Open is one of the oldest golf tournaments in North America. Karl Keefer won that year and kicked off a Manitoba tradition that has lasted over 100 years. In 1998 it was renamed the MTS Classic and later the Free Press Manitoba Classic. In 2008 it became the Players Cup and in 2020, back to the original Manitoba Open.

The Players Cup joined the newly formed Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada in 2013 and quickly became a premier event on the national circuit that is now the official first step to the PGA TOUR.

The PGA Tour Canada features some of the best up and coming golfers looking to take that step toward their dream of playing on golf’s greatest stage as they compete for their share of the CentrePort Canada Rail Park Manitoba Open’s $200,000 purse. Many PGA Tour Canada champions have gone on to notable careers on the PGA TOUR including 2009 Champion Graham DeLaet, as well as Mike Weir, David Hearn, Tony Finau, Nick Taylor and Steve Stricker.

PGA TOUR Canada

PGA TOUR Canada is a professional golf tour that offers a series of tournaments played primarily in Canada each summer, where tomorrow’s stars begin the path to the PGA TOUR. All year, players will compete for the Fortinet Cup, a points-based race that rewards the top performers with Korn Ferry Tour membership for the following season. In addition, players will play for a $100,000 bonus pool provided by Fortinet. PGA TOUR Canada’s mission is to deliver a PGA TOUR experience for our members, fans, volunteers and its partners in order to develop the future stars of professional golf and enrich the communities the Tour visits.
